Here we go – come and take a look

Although we look pretty much the same – it’s in English as well now.

Towards the end of February we presented our brand new Alumni Website. We’ve expanded the range and variety of articles at our h_da site, including an English version – just use the (DE | EN) button to toggle between languages. Our latest addition is an interesting portrait of bio-technologist Dr Karsten Schrobback, who has lived and worked in Australia for the past 15 years.

Slim down the Alumni Portal

We’re upgrading our Alumni Website to integrate features of our existing “Alumni Portal”. This former platform was set up in 2014, to facilitate chats between registered members and enable them to set up communal rooms. But after all, who’s missed out on Xing or LinkedIn? We’re not even going to try to compete with them! After deleting superfluous functions, our slimmed-down, convenient Alumni Portal now goes under the name of Alumni Members Area (“Mitgliederbereich”), to avoid it being confused with our core contact point, which remains the same at our Alumni Website. You can still update your personal details, subscribe to newsletters or request a new password at the Alumni Members Area. Any qualms you have, things you notice that might feel not quiet right about the Website, Alumni Members Area, or the new design of our newsletter “connect”, then contact us at alumni@h-da.de. We’ll deal with it!

“Turn around, if possible!” (“Wenn möglich, bitte wenden!”)

“Turn around, if possible!” is the latest Darmstadt podcast focused on the ‘Mobilitätswende’. (© HEAG mobilo).

The first Darmstadt podcast on the city’s mobility turnaround was broadcast at the end of May. “Turn around, if possible!” addresses travel by car, bicycle and goods transport – including, of course, using public transport. It also focuses on mutual tolerance and consideration, and how to harness those inner demons. The second episode, on June 24th, deals with the combination of “Mobility and Quality of Life” in Darmstadt. The podcast team of presenter Christina Janssen, and this time entertainer Aurora DeMeehl and Hartmut Raiser, a professor of architecture at the h_da, will be traversing the city. The podcast is a joint production between “City of Science Darmstadt” (“Wissenschaftsstadt Darmstadt”), mobility provider “HEAG mobilo” and the h_da. Further episodes will appear on the last Thursday of each month, until April 2022, at the project website or via usual podcast apps.

Additional impressions and information

Finally, three extra tips on how to keep in touch with the h_da. Our Newsletter on the h_da’s scientific magazine “impact” outlines articles, interviews and films dealing with the latest fascinating research approaches and study projects. Register here to receive bi-monthly news from our editorial team on what’s going on architecturally, in terms of cyber security, design, plastic technology or research into deep-lying social issues.

If you’d prefer a printed copy, then subscribe to the university magazine campus_d. Provided your postal address – as listed in the Alumni Members Area – is current, an email to Ann-Katrin Freit will ensure you receive your copy. The next edition comes out early July. An archive of back-dated issues in PDF format is also available here.

Read enough for today? Then how about these: three virtual 360 degree tours of your campus at h_da sites in Schöfferstraße, the Mathildenhöhe and in Dieburg. Have fun catching up with the university within you! We’ll contact you with our third newsletter of the year during the final quarter.
