Am Donnerstag, 26. Juni 2025, ist es so weit – um 16 Uhr startet rund ums h_da-Hochhaus unser Campusfestival. Das Open-Air-Event bietet ein vielfältiges Programm. Auf der Festivalbühne spielen von 16.00 – 22.00 Uhr vier Bands: die Schweizer Indie-Folk-Gruppe „The Gardener & The Tree“, der Tiktoker und ehemalige Straßenmusiker „Yu“ mit einer Mischung aus Rock, Pop und Rap, die Elektro-Pop-Musikerin Jenny Thiele und die „Baba Shrimp Gang“, der drei Studierende der h_da angehören. Zusätzlich gibt es einen Open-Air-Dancefloor und viele Sportangebote, ab 22.00 Uhr kann auf der AStA-Party im Glaskasten weitergefeiert werden. Ein Foodtruck Court versorgt die Gäste mit internationalen Speisen. Da dort Mehrwegsysteme verwendet werden und Müll weitgehend vermieden werden soll, dürfen eigene Getränke und Speisen nicht mitgebracht werden. Alle Hochschulmitglieder und Musikinteressierten aus Darmstadt und der Region sind eingeladen. Vom 2. – 6. Juni 2025 ist die h_da Gastgeberin der „EUT+ Darmstadt Week“. Dann lässt sich auf unserem Campus beobachten, wie eine europäische Idee Gestalt annimmt: Rund 150 Gäste aller neun europäischen Partnerhochschulen kommen dann zusammen, um über Sprach- und Kulturgrenzen hinweg an einem gemeinsamen Ziel zu arbeiten: der Gründung einer Europäischen Universität.

Das Treffen ist eine von sechs intensiven Arbeitswochen in diesem Jahr. Die thematischen Schwerpunkte: Forschung, Digitale Transformation und Entrepreneurship. Zu den Höhepunkten der Woche zählt eine öffentliche Veranstaltung des „EUT+ Incubation Programme“ am Dienstag, 3. Juni: Studentische Teams von allen EUT+-Standorten präsentieren ab 13.30 Uhr im Café Glaskasten ihre Startup-Ideen und werden von einer Fachjury prämiert. Am Donnerstag, 5. Juni, steht ein Highlight in Sachen Demokratiebildung auf der Agenda: Knapp 40 Studierende aus Troyes, Limassol und Darmstadt schlüpfen in einem Simulation Game für einen Tag in die Rolle von Europaabgeordneten und debattieren über den „Green Deal“ der EU. Eröffnet wird das Event von Staatssekretär Christoph Degen vom Hessischen Wissenschaftsministerium.

Außerdem treffen sich während der „EUT+ Darmstadt Week“ erstmals Robotik-Expert*innen aller Partner, um sich zu vernetzen und die Möglichkeiten der Gründung einer „European Research Group“ auszuloten. Die Schader Stiftung und das ECT Lab+ organisieren die wissenschaftliche Konferenz „Wissen im Zeitalter der digitalen Re-/Produktion“ und laden am 4. Juni um 18.30 Uhr zur öffentlichen Podiumsdiskussion „KI, Urheberschaft und menschliche Kreativität in Bildung, Wissenschaft und Kunst“ in die Schader Stiftung ein. Durch den Klimawandel wird es auch in unserer Region heißer, das ist auf dem Campus im Sommer bereits deutlich spürbar. Hitzeperioden halten länger an, heiße Tage mit über 30°C werden häufiger. Das kann unser Wohlbefinden, die Gesundheit und das Konzentrationsvermögen beeinträchtigen und betrifft deshalb auch den Hochschulalltag. Mit der Hitze-Informationskampagne „Beat the Heat“ informiert und unterstützt die h_da – und wird selbst aktiv: Geplant sind bis in den Herbst beispielsweise Aktionen, die über Hitze und Klimawandel informieren und erklären, was auf individueller Ebene getan werden kann, um in Lehrveranstaltungen, Prüfungen oder am Arbeitsplatz besser mit der Hitze zurechtzukommen. Außerdem geht es um konkrete Handlungsvorschläge, was jeder Einzelne tun kann, um zu verhindern, dass es noch heißer wird. Games-Studierende der h_da haben den Deutschen Computerspielpreis 2025 in der Kategorie „Newcomer Award: Best Prototype“ gewonnen. Die Studierenden aus dem Studiengang Animation and Game erhalten ein Preisgeld in Höhe von 50.000 Euro. Wir gratulieren Melena Dressel, Laura Octavianus, Julian Papesch und Alejandro Rebolledo, die sich mit ihrem Spiel „Blob the Klex“ gegen 70 weitere Teams durchgesetzt haben. Die Jury lobte ihr Game als „herzerwärmendes Jump-‘n’-Run-Abenteuer, das durch liebevolle Gestaltung, kreative Rätsel und eine einzigartige Protagonistin besticht – die Katze Klex“. Mitbetreut wurden die Studierenden von Professor Stephan Jacob (Bildmitte). Der Deutsche Computerspielpreis (DCP) ist der wichtigste Preis für die deutsche Games-Branche und wird seit 2009 verliehen. Mehr Informationen auf der h_da-Website.

Am 9. April wurde der Merchandising-Shop im Studierendenhaus eröffnet. Den exklusiven Innenausbau des Shops hat Valentin Pillhofer, h_da-Absolvent aus dem Fachbereich Architektur, konzipiert. On Thursday, June 26, 2025, the time has come – our campus festival starts at 4 p.m. around the h_da high-rise. The open-air event offers a varied program. Four bands will be playing on the festival stage from 4 pm to 10 pm: the Swiss indie folk group “The Gardener & The Tree”, the tiktoker and former street musician ‘Yu’ with a mix of rock, pop and rap, the electro-pop musician Jenny Thiele and the “Baba Shrimp Gang”, which includes three h_da students. There will also be an open-air dance floor and lots of sports activities, and from 10 p.m. the party can continue at the AStA party in the Glaskasten. A food truck court will provide guests with international dishes. As reusable systems are used there and waste is to be avoided as far as possible, guests are not allowed to bring their own food and drinks. All university members and music enthusiasts from Darmstadt and the region are invited. Admission is free. Full information can be found on the festival website (in German).

From 2 - 6 June 2025, h_da will be hosting the ‘EUT+ Darmstadt Week’. This is when you can watch a European idea take shape on our campus: About 150 guests from all nine European partner universities will come together to work across language and cultural boundaries towards a common goal: the establishment of a European University.

The meeting is one of six intensive working weeks this year. The thematic focal points: Research, digital transformation and entrepreneurship. One of the highlights of the week is a public event of the ‘EUT+ Incubation Programme’ on Tuesday, 3 June: student teams from all EUT+ locations will present their start-up ideas at Café Glaskasten from 1.30 pm and will be awarded prizes by a jury of experts. On Thursday, 5 June, a highlight in terms of democracy education is on the agenda: almost 40 students from Troyes, Limassol and Darmstadt will slip into the role of MEPs for a day in a simulation game and debate the EU's ‘Green Deal’. The event will be opened by State Secretary Christoph Degen from the Hessian Ministry of Science.

Robotics experts from all partners will also meet for the first time during the ‘EUT+ Darmstadt Week’ to network and explore the possibilities of founding a European Research Group. The Schader Foundation and the ECT Lab+ are organising the scientific conference ‘Knowledge in the age of digital re-/production’ and inviting you to the public panel discussion ‘AI, authorship and human creativity in education, science and art’ on 4 June at 6.30 pm at the Schader Foundation. Climate change is making it hotter in our region as well, which is already clearly noticeable on campus in summer. Periods of heat are lasting longer, hot days with temperatures of over 30°C are becoming more frequent. This can affect our well-being, health and ability to concentrate and therefore also affects everyday university life. With the heat information campaign “Beat the Heat”, h_da informs, supports - and takes action: For example, campaigns are planned until the fall to provide information about heat and climate change and explain what can be done at an individual level to cope better with the heat in courses, exams or at work. There will also be concrete suggestions on what each individual can do to prevent it from getting even hotter. And what h_da is specifically doing to deal with this challenge in the best possible way. You can find an overview of the campaign's topics and events on the h_da website (in German).

Games students from h_da have won the German Computer Game Award 2025 in the “Newcomer Award: Best Prototype” category. The students from the Animation and Game course will receive prize money of 50,000 euros. We congratulate Melena Dressel, Laura Octavianus, Julian Papesch and Alejandro Rebolledo, who beat 70 other teams with their game “Blob the Klex”. The jury praised their game as a “heart-warming platform adventure that impresses with its loving design, creative puzzles and a unique protagonist - Klex the cat”. The students were co-supervised by Professor Stephan Jacob (center). The German Computer Game Prize (DCP) is the most important prize for the German games industry and has been awarded since 2009. The merchandising shop in the Studierendenhaus was opened on 9 April. Valentin Pillhofer, h_da graduate from the Department of Architecture, designed the exclusive interior of the shop.
